LIFE GOES ALTERNATIVE

From The Cancer Chronicles #22
© July 1994 by Ralph W. Moss, Ph.D.

[In the summer of 1994, Life magazine featured a front-page story on Dr. Georg Springer of Chicago and his T/Tn Antigen treatment. As I explain elsewhere, the Hon. Berkley Bedell and I got so excited by this that we immediately went to visit Dr. Springer. At this writing I have heard that Dr. Springer has been shut down for 90 days by the FDA, imperilling his patients' access to the treatment. --RWM]

Times change--and so does Life! In May, one could read the following critique of the establishment in the pages of this mainstream magazine:

"Historically, breast cancer has been treated with the triumvirate of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy--sometimes condemned as 'slash, burn and poison.' Although these traditional methods have never worked well, maverick researchers like [Dr. Georg] Springer were ostracized by the establishment."

Even doyens of the establishment no longer seem to believe in their own methods. "We have made no major breakthroughs in terms of cure," says Edward Sondik, deputy director of the National Cancer Institute. If Dr. Sondik doesnąt think so, why should we?
